Windows 10 pro version 1709 update free -

This computer has Windows 10 ver. I have the original Windows 7 retail DVD. My legal version of Windows 10 version has tried two times to update to Windows 10 version and has been unsuccessful.

The text inside the window says: "Windows could not configure one or more components to install Windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation. When the version of Windows 10 started to update it said: "Feature Update to Windows 10, Version It has tried to update to the version two times and has failed both times with the same error window.

How can I get help getting by this error window and getting the Windows 10 version on this computer updated to Windows 10 version ? Thank you. This thread is locked. The error message that you received may be an indication that the Windows Update component is damaged or corrupted. Sorry this didn't help. If an upgrade fails often the operating system returns to the prior working version and generates the logs. Some of the problems could be: problems with drivers, AV, insufficient disk space in partitions, etc.

You should see immediate results as you enter characters and the more characters you enter the narrower the results. As I stated the version of Windows 10 works well on my home built computer. The update system appears to be downloading and installing the latest version of Windows 10, but it stops with an error window I have previously described.

The window appears when the update stops, and it is labeled "Windows Setup". It is a white window with a red circle in the upper left hand corner with a white X in the middle of the red circle. Inside the window the text says: "Windows could not configure one or more system components.

To install Windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation. Don't turn off your computer. Do you have any specific information about how I can get my computer updated to Windows 10 version OS Build If you don't have information about how I can do that, can you tell me how I can get help from Microsoft to get my Windows 10 updated to the latest version? There is a setupact with , KB but no setupact.

I don't find a setupmem. I don't see anything that is labeled an error code. If I do find logs I'm not sure how to post them to "one drive" or "drop box" as you suggest. Can the "Update" reinstall Windows 10? When the system tries to update it takes a very long time that seems long enough to completely reinstall Windows 10, but I surmise it doesn't because it still doesn't solve this problem and it returns me to Windows 10 version Can I get help from Microsoft with this Update problem so I can get updated to version ?

Look for any of the files that are on the list and post what you find anything close using the information in this link:. If there is information about the failure then you will better know how to troubleshoot the failure to upgrade. The problem I'm having is a failure to update Windows 10 from version to version I don't find files related to this failure. The worse scenario is that Microsoft constantly upgrades to new version and it is not accessible for PWD!

It is against ADA requirements! Shame of Microsoft developers who still can't changed coding or go back to previous version! As for me, if I would be totally blind as result of it, Microsoft would be responsible. When windows attempts and upgrade and fails there are logs generated that may be useful in the troubleshooting. By default they may be hidden so if file explorer is used the option to click view to display hidden files may be useful.

The logs that are almost always available after a Windows upgrade failure one build to another build are:. These may take a lot of time to decode and sometimes the cause and effect cannot be determined from the logs.

If the cause can be found the computer environment may be able to be modified to allow the upgrade. Your explanation of things, "that happened" and other things that "maybe can be found", and "some computers may", and "almost always", and "may take a lot of time to decode", and "sometimes" are really too vague to be useful for a real world, nuts and bolts, workable solution, if there is one.

In reply to A. User's post on November 22, This is an upgrade problem. There are many causes for upgrade failures. They can be troubleshooted by viewing the Panther logs. By default they may be hidden. It takes time to troubleshoot these logs. Many of the entries in the logs are error codes that need to be decoded and deciphered. The error codes are important as this would be the method to start the troubleshooting. Look for: setuperr.

Use one drive or drop box to post the logs that you find. In reply to edokie's post on November 23, The files have error codes that are often difficult to decode and decipher. In reply to edokie's post on November 28, These logs are called the Panther logs. They can be found using search.

There are different Panther logs generated depending on the type of failure. So some computers may or may not have the varous Panther logs. The logs that are almost always available after a Windows upgrade failure one build to another build are: setupact setuperr These may take a lot of time to decode and sometimes the cause and effect cannot be determined from the logs. FIX: Windows 10 Update fails to install (Solved) - - Windows Tips & How-tos - Deployment

I've got a super fast, 6-month-old laptop, so I feel sorry for anyone on an older, slower machine. Oh, and even more delightfully, it randomly changed which of my monitors is the main monitor, and put my icons on one monitor and the taskbar commands on the other. So I get the joy of losing even more productivity to re-set up my workstation for my workflow. Plus, as with every previous "customer" upgrade, Windows reset my defaults on power settings, which means after a few seconds!!

Yay, I get to once again go in to my registry and enable hidden sleep timers. As Microsoft reminds us in the update announcement, Windows is a service.

For which we pay, and pay handsomely. My complaint isn't with the functionality of the update, it's with the pain caused by the update process. Considering that Microsoft has been pushing updates to computers for over a decade, why do we still have the same pain points?

I don't think it's customers who need to get a clue. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Didn't think of it until I saw the laundry list of things to do to resolve the issue. I appreciate your time. Until my next issue, lol, take care and stay safe.
